ear problems

Well in this picture you will see that both Matt and Sarah Avery have cotton in their ears.. Yep, SA is on #4 ear infection in 2 mos and we are doing our best to get it cleared but we are headed to the ENT on Jan 5th for a consult on what to do.
Matt had a cold that evidently turned into a sinus infection that made his ear rupture. So, he is on antibiotics now and feeling a bit better. All part of his ear issues from when he was a baby. Gosh, what a month! Please continue to pray for Matt and for the baby to have clear ears next check up.

Best birthday year

Even at 29, oh I mean 39, I received the best present this year than any other year! Sarah Avery!!! I know I talk about her all the time but she is the most amazing gift that God has ever given me. We are so thankful for her. So, with all the things I could complain about as my age is increasing, I will choose to just talk about this little baby that I wondered about ever since I can remember. I wondered about will I have boys or girls or both. Will they look like me or act like me (Mom don't say anything). Of course I wondered about marriage and all that too.
But it's going to be interesting to see how God is going to grow our family because since I was a teenager, I wanted to adopt a baby. I think it all started in my heart when my parents almost adopted me a sister from Japan.
I wonder what my #40 birthday will hold! Until then, I hope you enjoy a few snapshots from my day..

sick days

Well, we have had a few sick days here lately. I was sick yesterday all day with some stomach monster.. And, Our darling is still battling with a right ear infection and last night started running a low grade fever. NO FUN.. So, she got to hang out at the house today in her PJ's. And she got to keep her pacifier with her a little bit today. please pray that her ear clears up, we are going on a month of continuous ear infections.

So, how cute are these PJ's? Our friend Lisa in Denver bought these for her when she was a newborn and they are 12-18 mos.. She really liked the cow sitting on her chest. Thanks Lisa!

Let the Shenannigans begin

Our little angel has discovered that she thinks she has a few better ideas than Momma and Dadda. That is right, tonight at bedtime after her bottle, she wiggled out of my lap, to slide down my leg with a destination in mind.. Her elephant and her toys. Dadda came in during this time of distraction and played with her, well it wasn't enough, she left the room waving. She kicked her creepin into high gear and made it to the living room in no time.. Here are a few pics of her trying to worm out of night night..

Future Gymnast?

For all of you mothers,
I have a firm grasp on her and
Momma is our spotter.
This is true Da Da fun!

After our bath time a week ago...she showed us her dexterity on the shower rod (aka the uneven bars). Now it becomes a ritual. If she wants to go for a full ride gymnastics scholarship to the Univ of Alabama...that would be acceptable. Yes i did say the "other school", but, she will probably be following in her cousin Lexie's footsteps.

Well, before this time of athleticism. I decided to join Avery in the bath, I was getting wet on the outside due to the over excited splashing, so i donned my bathing suit and jumped in. She seemed rather unfazed by the new visitor. I have to say with her and her bath toys and Da Da there wasn't much room for the water. I really enjoyed it and so did she when she finally figured it out.

9 month update

Waiting on Dr. Amy
Sarah Avery had her 9 month appointment today. She has been sick with a double ear infection and Dr. Amy tells us that her ears are clearing up and she seems to be healing nicely. Her behavior tells us she is fine and she is playing hard.

17.8 lbs (20th percentile) and 28 1/2 inches long (75th). So our little girl is tall and slim and an outie for a belly button.
Dr. Amy once again loved how physical she was and how smart she was and told us as a warning that we will have our HANDS full by the time she is 2. It made us laugh and now I am nervous.. hahhahaaa..

Dr. Amy asked us lots of questions about her development and speech and eating. So, by our responses, she said that she wasn't fond of the stage 3 foods and to go ahead and start feeding her table food.. WE WERE SHOCKED.. wow. Now our baby is for sure a big girl. My mother in-law fed her scrambled eggs for dinner and she liked them ok. Weird! I can't believe she is 9 mos.

She got a great report and we are excited that she is developing so well. We are soooooo thankful for a healthy and fun baby and we continue to pray that we would usher her little spirit in as God has molded her to be.

Little Punkin

Old Baker Farm~

Melissa invited us to go with them to the Old Baker Farm and go for a Hay ride, etc. Avery was still a little on the tired side since she was sick last week, but we felt that she was good to go. Besides a runny nose, she was having a great time staring at EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. She might get that from her Momma. SO anyways, here she is in her Pumpkin Hat.

She has it all figured out!

Sarah Avery has her little happy figured out in this picture. She didn't want to be held and was wanting to walk around her chair but wanted her bottle at the same time. Matt and I were trying to get her stuff together to leave, so we just put her in her chair and BAM! Check this chickie out!

Light of Mine

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, this little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!

Oh ok, so. This happens to be Avery's most favorite song and I think Matt and I will be singing it all the time in memory of us missing her. The cool thing is it's dual purpose. Matt and I hope that our light is shining and draws those that God is calling unto himself into our midst for conversation in the markets of Paris.

I layed her down for a nap this morning and she is the most precious thing that has ever come into our lives and I don't know how you give enough kisses, hugs or say enough I love you's.
I love you Sarah Avery and your Mommy and Daddy will think of you and pray for you the whole time while we are away from you. All of your grandparents will love on you and take good care of you. Even your sweet little cousins will beckon to play with you constantly. So, have fun and know that we will always be there for you!

Contemplation

We are headed out of the country a week from today on our mission trip to France. Matt and I both knew that leaving S.Avery behind would be difficult but we both knew that we were supposed to go on this trip. She hasn't shown any signs of separation anxiety yet, so hopefully, she will not have a difficult time while we are away. We will miss her ohhhh so much. All those yummy hugs and kisses and cute little faces that she lavishes on us each day will be hard to be without.
But as much as we love her and she loves us, God also wants Matt and I to display His love to her and do this through our lives. We both believe that the Lord commands us to Go, teach and preach the Gospel. Sometimes and actually most times, it is very uncomfortable, inconvenient and incredibly emotionally difficult. Here is that time! Matt and I both love God and we want to share the Gospel...AND our passions are mounting together in this area. I want Avery to have a compassionate heart for God from the beginning, I desire for her to know the Lord at a very early age and to be sold out for him in her life.. Even as a 4 year old. I want her to know God because we went, preached and taught her the Truth! I want her to LOVE other people with the most precious little heart and even when they don't look or act or smell as good as her, that she love on them.

So, please please pray for us. All 3 of us. Pray for the new life that is growing inside me. Pray for our team. Pray the Lord Jesus open up gates wide open to those he is calling in Paris. That our eyes would know who is seeking the Truth and that we would go with boldness from the Spirit.

Angels

Two little angels:
Avery and Georgia
3 little angels:
Georgia, Maggie and Avery

Sunday, August 31, 2008

She is now 7 months, TODAY!

So all those people at church were right when they said "don't blink or you will miss it". She is sitting up in 3 different split positions, crawling, pulling up, eating 3 meals a day, singing, laughing, swimming, recognizing strangers, playing and all around charming our hearts every minute! Here a few pics of her in the last week.

"You ought to try this Daddy, it's relaxing.".
Notice the feet kicking and hands moving.. This child loves to swim. Watch out Michael Phelps because she qualifies in 2024. We didn't have a $500 swimsuit to train in so we just went naked!

Yep, she gets into her toybox and pulls her toys out and then dumps the toy box on her head. (If we can train her to put them up at an early age then it will be easier for us).
And this is how we find her in the mornings and after naps. She pulls herself to a standing position glaring at the door awaiting her Mommy or Daddy to rescue her. STATS: At her 6mos checkup she weighed 15.3 lbs, and was 26 1/2 inches long with the report from Dr. Amy of "she is very athletic".....

Chasing Butterflies

Look closely

Cousin Allison
Praying

We went to "The Farm" a couple of weeks ago and had a great time with our family. I took a few pictures while Avery was in a photo shoot with our cousin Rebecca. My pictures are amateur compared to hers but, here are few of her at a flower field near the farm. She couldn't make it all the way through without sleeping, but how beautiful is this little angel?
